On January 15, 2025, the IfaS AGROfloW project team met with farmer Robert Künne in Jesewitz in the district of North Saxony to prepare for the upcoming implementation of a new demonstration site.
The Lerchenhof is an important result of the Saxon agroforestry campaign, which also advises and supports other farms on the topic of agroforestry in addition to the originally planned demonstration sites.
In spring 2025, a silvoarable agroforestry system with poplars, various valuable woods and bee pasture trees is to be planted on around 8 hectares of arable land on the organic farm. In addition to the production of energy wood, the wood-based system is intended in particular to improve the water balance on the field and contribute to greater biodiversity in the landscape. Good preparation is essential for the successful establishment of the approximately 5,200 planned trees and shrubs. The next steps, such as site preparation and necessary maintenance measures during the establishment phase, were therefore discussed at the joint meeting on site.
Further demonstration sites in Saxony are already being planned.
