Flume installation at project site in Belgium

At the end of May, an RBC flume was installed at one of the AFaktive sites in Belgium. This gauging channel will make it possible to continuously measure surface runoff for four years, in order to monitor the evolution of this key parameter in the context of the implementation of an agroforestry system set up in the winter of 2024-2025.

The scientific objective is to assess the impact of agroforestry on water regulation at the plot level — in particular the reduction of runoff and the improvement of waterinfiltration — and to generate useful data to adapt agricultural practices to climate challenge.

This monitoring system is part of a multidisciplinary approach combining hydrology, agronomy and ecology.

The project site is coordinated by the AFaktive partner, the Wallonian Association for Agroforestry (AWAF) https://awafinfo.wixsite.com/awaf

The installation was carried out by partner Royal Eijkelkamp.
