Especially with a spring as dry as this year, the interest in agroforestry is on the rise – also in the media.
In mid-May, the German media broadcaster SWR interviewed the AFaktive team of the project coordinator IfaS (Institute for Applied Material Flow Management at the Trier University of Applied Sciences) and the management of the Hofgut Neumühle educational and experimental centre for livestock farming.
Among other things, this resulted in a video with an accompanying article on the benefits of agroforestry.
In the video, the project activities at the site are listed as an example of agroforestry (from minute 2:15).
IfaS Head of Department Frank Wagener, who was interviewed, emphasised the importance of keeping water in the landscape – the opposite process of what has been happening so far. Wagener also emphasised the research objectives of the project and their relevance for farming practice.
